Join us to learn about essential oils!

Hello Friends,

Just enough freezing mist, fog, and drizzle to make everything icy on Sunday morning.  I hear from my daughter that the city got a dusting.  We got a layer of ice that was agonizingly slow to melt.  Finally, this afternoon the sun dissolved all the ice that its warm rays could reach.  Still, patches linger on the north sides of things.  Sounds like Wednesday should take care of it though.

Penny is still dealing with her afterbirth issues.  Today makes 9 days!  Argh!  She is making progress but we want it to be over.  The sources we read online, and the experienced farmers that we talked to, pretty much agree that you should probably just let nature take its course.  She’s moving a little slowly, but she is eating, milking, and eliminating so we are watching her and praying.  I know!  Has it come to that???

Her calf we have named Nichols, since his mom is Penny.  Clever huh?  He is doing well and if someone would like to raise him up, he is available for sale as a bottle calf.  Let me know if you are interested.  From time to time people ask us if we have heifers for sale.  Generally, we like to see what we get, but we had a lot of heifers last year and we probably won’t need all the little females that will be born this coming year.  If you are intrigued by the idea of raising up a cute little Jersey heifer, I can put you on a list and let you know when they become available.

Over the years, I have dabbled in essential oils for use on the animals.  Peppermint oil for stimulating circulation on an engorged udder, tea tree for various antiseptic uses, and I loved my lavender face soap!  But I didn’t really know much about what I was doing and what other oils I could be using.  Recently, Bill and I purchased a starter kit from Young Living and WOW, we are having a great time learning about all the possibilities.  If you are interested in learning about what all the fuss is about, Jean Richardson has agreed to come over on Sunday, February 25th at 2:00 p.m. and teach us about simple and affordable tactics you can use to eliminate toxic chemicals from your household.  The class is totally FREE and there is no obligation to buy anything.  There will be samples to touch and smell.  Come prepared to learn and be pampered!
